Can I have it in colors other than black and white?

In short, it is not. The JUNO Bed is produced in black/black, white/white, and beech/white. However, it is possible to have beds custom made and you are welcome to contact us with your personal preferences.

Can I have it in other sort of wood?

At present, no, but eventually yes.
We have chosen beech partly because it is a very tough sort of wood which tolerates blows without splintering, partly because beech gains a very fine patina, and thus stays neat over many years.
Many have asked for fir wood, because it goes with their other furniture, and because it is also somewhat cheaper, but this will not be implemented as fir is much too vulnerable. It quickly accumulates ugly marks and scratches, but even worse, fir is also a very soft sort of wood with open pores. This means that it easily warps due to temperature changes and moisture, for example in storage in an attic or basement. Firstly, a quality bed should never warp and perhaps wobble, secondly JUNO is an extendable bed which has to retain its exact dimensions for the moving parts to work, and this places great demands on the materials.

However, if we do reach a reasonable production level, there will definitely be room for other types of wood, for example mahogany, but to start with we must stick with solid beech due to production costs.

What are the bed’s measurements?

The new JUNO bed is considerable bigger than the old one, because babies are longer today, than they were in 1942 when the bed was created. The measures are 30 x 45 inches, 30 x 53 inches and 30 x 59 inches, all in outer measures.

Can I have it with a different motive than farmyard animals?

The JUNO bed can be delivered with or without the motive. If you choose without you can decorate it yourselves on the outside, with glass-paint, pictures, paperclip, and so on. You may also order your baby’s name as a sticker for the side.
If we reach a reasonable level of production, it will definitely be possible to introduce new motives, perhaps even the customer’s own motives, but to start with we have to limit ourselves to the cozy farm animals due to production costs.

Why are there no bars in the side like the old one has?

The bars in the side are one of the features that had to go because of the new safety regulations which the new JUNO bed adheres to.
The rules state amongst other things that the height of the bars should be a minimum of 65 centimeters, so that the child cannot step onto the bars and fall out of the bed. As JUNO is extendable and therefore requires a pair of sturdy bed staffs to control the extension, it is not possible to have bars adhering to the 65 cm rule, which is why we use artificial glass in the sides instead.
We do produce custom beds with bars all around the bed ends, however.

I have an old JUNO bed and wish to buy a mattress

Unfortunately that won’t do any good. Danish babies have grown a lot bigger since JUNO were released in 1942, so the new JUNO bed is both wider and longer than the old one. Our mattresses simply do not fit your old bed.
